Welcome to the blog. Good luck getting that stress fracture. :)

From KellyP on Tue, May 05, 2009 at 17:45:21 from 12.229.184.2

Is that like a weird form of a hat trick: the 5th stress fracture?

Welcome to the blog!

From Walter on Tue, May 05, 2009 at 20:39:36 from 76.27.15.208

Welcome to the blog, try to think light thoughts when running. haha I dont envy stress fractures. Here is a great product for recovery and helping joints. www.surefirehealth.com its a pill that works awesome. Ive been on it and have been able to run for the past 2 years without injury. Its called PR17 its a glucosamine/chondroitin with other joint mobility ingredients. I fractured my pelvis in 23 places so i have a good reason to be taking it. Good luck with your running.

From Lucia on Wed, May 06, 2009 at 09:49:44 from 74.9.147.114

Don't listen to Burt or Walter, girl - welcome to the blog! I'm not sure I like you here though, I'm supposed to be the one that always gets injured, you're going to steal my thunder! :)

From beef on Wed, May 06, 2009 at 12:58:17 from 148.177.1.210

I'm also a member of the stress fracture club. Only once though - you win. Welcome!

Running hurts after walking and lifting for 6 hours at work, I think I'll keep running before work from now on!

Comments
From allie on Sun, May 10, 2009 at 14:23:07 from 208.110.151.113

yeah! a picture! i like it. so what exactly do you do for work that requires 6 hours of walking and lifting? sounds intense...but healthy!

From Marissa on Sun, May 10, 2009 at 18:15:12 from 208.117.127.104

I work at a grocery store in the dairy, cashiering, and grocery and so I'm lifting boxes of stuff and running around stocking, finding items, etc. I love it, but it's tiring.

I'm definitely not a morning person I usually wait 'til 5 or 6 to run, but since marathons are in the morning I decided to start running early (9 am ha ha) today. It was hard, but it's nice to have it over with. I'm going to slowly work towards 7 eventually.

Total Distance
7.20

I discovered 3 things while running today: 1. I only have to have the willpower to run halfway, then I have no choice but to do the other half to get home. 2. I hate running in the morning. 3. I miss my school routine because now that it's summer my schedule's crazy and it's harder to run.

From Burt on Tue, May 12, 2009 at 19:52:40 from 68.76.197.194

You have to run in the mornings because that's when the races are. :)

Achilles tendon felt a lot better today-no stiffness just a little sore

Total Distance
7.20

I felt like I had a lot more endurance-I could run through spots I usually walk-I'm glad I have the next few days off so I can let my achilles heal

Total Distance

I was going to hike the narrows today but that fell through, so instead I went on a walk-it was a nice day!

Today was another rest day-I've worked the past 32 out of 74 hours and my back/feet are on fire-it was nice to get outside though!

Total Distance
7.20

Felt  really good today-I've got to start setting my alarm so I'm not running in the heat because I started getting cold chills.

Total Distance
7.20

Today's run was awesome I beat my usual time by over 8 minutes! I felt awesome and ran a lot more and longer-despite the fact that I didn't sleep a wink all night due to a combination of excedrin for my migraine and an amazing book-hopefully I spent all my energy and will take a good nap before work

Total Distance
4.60

Today was my "rest" day so I just walked-I worked late last night and have to be to work by 10 so I wasn't up to running

I think I'm going to do the same mileage the next few weeks 'til it doesn't make me as tired-otherwise it was a good run

Total Distance

Good run

Total Distance

Turns out I've been running further than I thought I was-my brother measured the distance for me and it didn't seem right so I remeasured it-he had told me the wrong number, but got the same distance. I'm excited, I bought a new pair of shoes that should be here Friday-hopefully they'll help my legs

Today's run was kind of hard-I started getting cold chills-otherwise I felt great

Total Distance
0.00

the cold chills from yesterday's run turned into the flu-and almost passing out at work-today I stuck with the elliptical and bike and barely made it-I'll see how I feel tomorrow but I might take another day off from running

Total Distance
7.50

I felt really good today and ran 6.15 out of the 7.5 and never felt out of breath-only a little tired from the flu :)

Total Distance
7.50

Ran 6.5 out of the 7.5 and felt great! Not sure if it's due to my awesome new shoes, my nap, or bringing water for the first time.

Total Distance

Today was my first long run, I wasn't sure if I could make myself do it, but I did! It took me 87 min 33 sec. and I ran 8.5 out of the 10.

Not my best run ever-I ran a minute slower per mile. More mental tiredness than physical I think ha ha

Total Distance

Felt good today

Total Distance

same as always :)

Total Distance
13.10

Today I only planned on doing 11 miles, but I felt really good so I thought I might as well see if I could do a half marathon-it took me 1:55:51 and I could still walk so I call that a success!

Total Distance

Today was harder than my run Saturday even though it was 5 miles shorter-tomorrow will be an easy day I think

Hey, nice long run!

Total Distance
8.00

felt pretty good today-I've had trouble walking the past week because of my hip flexer so I took three days off last week and did the elliptical instead-which made me feel rested today, even after 8 hours on my feet lifting at work

Total Distance
8.00

felt good

Total Distance
8.00

took it easy today-not that I don't every day :)

Total Distance
5.10

I went swimming after I ran-my hip flexer feels so much better, I might have to make a swim after running a habit now!

Total Distance
8.00

Feeling a lot better today-almost back to normal

Total Distance
8.00

nothing too eventful

Total Distance
8.00

The run's getting better I'm still running at a 7.2 rather than my usual 7.7 because of my hip flexer, but it's up from 6.5 so I'm happy-hopefully it'll keep getting better!

Total Distance
9.00

did 250 crunches after my run-holy cow I need to start doing them more

Total Distance
8.00

today I just had to make myself do it-but I lived : )

Total Distance
8.00

Slow at first, but got loosened up and felt pretty good

Total Distance
6.00

Did less miles today so that I feel well enough to try 15 on Saturday

Total Distance
9.70

I felt well enough to try 15, but I got called in to work tonight and I didn't want to be dead when I still had 8 1/2 hours on my feet to go. Otherwise, I think my hip's finally healing-it feels more exhausted than painful when I walk now!

Sorry about work calling you in! But you have done great this week and hopefully the hip will get to ALL better status soon.

Total Distance
8.00

Total Distance

On Wednesday I decided it'd be best if I took the rest of the week off running and just do the elliptical and bike, but I walked a mile today, man do I miss running

Total Distance
5.42

foot still hurt so I walked-I think I'll walk this week then try to run again next-I really hated the girl next to me running fast :)

Total Distance
5.00

I ran for the first time in over a week! My foot didn't hurt too bad after work last night so I decided to try running today, but I didn't want to overdo it because I work again tonight. I'm just glad it's starting to heal!!!

Total Distance
6.00

Ran a lot more today than yesterday, six mile took me one minute more than the 5 took me yesterday-I just need to build up my leg muscle again!

Total Distance
8.00

Yay, I did it! It took me 10 minutes more than it used to but I felt good

Total Distance
10.00

Holy cow I feel great! There's nothing like running without pain-well extra pain

Total Distance
8.00

slowly bringing down my time

Total Distance
13.10

I took the past two days off and did the elliptical/bike-I was too tired from working all night. However, I did another half marathon-next week will be my first 15 miler-good thing I don't mind walking!

GOOD JOB!!! Glad you are feeling better.

Total Distance

I talked myself off the treadmill onto the elliptical-then off the elliptical a half hour early. I can be quite convincing when I don't want to be there.

Total Distance
15.00

I ran it in 2:23:35 so not too bad! I felt really good and ran 101 minutes out of it all. I tried my first goo/gu? today-I thought it was extemely good, but not something I wanted to eat while running-a little too thick. Next week 17

Total Distance
8.00

First morning I didn't take ibuprofen before my run and I felt really good-my foot only twinges now.

Total Distance
8.00

Nothing too unusual

Total Distance

it took me about 2:41:00 and I ran 116 minutes of it at a 8:27 pace. I felt great-I think I can actually pull off a marathon!

Total Distance

I think I could have done 6.2 more and lived! I felt really good I ran 2:24 at a 8:20 pace and it took me 3:03:45ish. I thought I'd lost a toenail about mile 18 but after my run it was still there-so I'm pretty happy!

congrats on a 20miler! Longer then I've ever done in training! How is the GU treating you? I like GU and also Clif Bars are my favorites. You are going to do great in your marathon :).

Total Distance
3.57

I donated blood around noon-I thought I'd feel fine by six but after 3 miles I was done. I could have kept going but tomorrow I'm doing hills so I want to feel good!

Total Distance
8.00

Today I drove to Providence and found a hill, I went to the top and measured a mile down, then I ran/mostly walked up and down it four times. My sister recommended that I get some experience running downhill since the TOU is downhill. I forgot how beautiful Logan is-except for a freaking huge snake that I saw! I hope once I get acclimated and recoop from my blood donation I'll feel better.

Total Distance
17.00

The run was pretty good. I thought I wouldn't make it because I've been so tired and blah this week. I kept hitting the reset button on the treadmill with what appears to be a huge stomach so I had to watch the miles and add-so I have no idea how long this took me-less than 3 hours though-and without gu!

Total Distance
8.00

It must have been the cookies I ate for breakfast, but holy cow I never ever get a sideache, so I struggled through it but still cut a few seconds off per mile. I just hope I live through the marathon

Total Distance
8.00

Felt like crap-but still cut a few seconds off per mile. I think a nap and water will help Thursday on my long run-school is draining :)

Total Distance
15.00

The first quarter mile about made me quit, but then I got in a groove and felt pretty good. I ran 106 minutes at a 8:13 pace (abt 13 miles) and walked the rest-it took me 2:15ish. I just hope I can do the marathon-time's running out!

What is your goal for the marathon? Are you planning any run-walk ratio, or just running?

From Marissa on Fri, Sep 04, 2009 at 23:47:46 from 97.126.157.112

definitely run/walk! Since this is my first I just want to finish within 6 hours

Total Distance
4.66

I came down with something nasty: sore throat, painful ears, cough, fever, wanting to die :) I stayed in bed Saturday and Sunday and only left once to go the dr and the store for food. Today I woke up with a fever still, but I decided to get on the treadmill and walk so that I could get some miles in and finally break my fever. I feel a little better, hopefully it sticks. The marathon's only 12 days away.

Total Distance

Still trying to get completely well-but I felt pretty good today, I also biked for a half hour and did the elliptical for 40 minutes-want to stay in kinda shape for Saturday

Total Distance

Finished my "six miles" on the elliptical by walking on the treadmill. I'm going to do some serious rehydrating tomorrow, plus carboloading!!!

Race: TOU (26.2 Miles) 04:30:00
Total Distance

I lived, I lived, I lived!!! Miles 1-16 felt really good, I ran with another girl at a 9:30 pace without stopping. I hit mile 16 and it went downhill from there, I started a walk/run thing until the end. I felt like such a baby, about mile 24 I started to cry until I saw my sisters, then when I saw the finish line I almost cried from relief. I'm so happy I lived!!! I might actually do another one, but I can't think about that right now, I'm just glad it was under 6 hours!
