70:01! I took Fri and Sat off because of caselot at work-man I felt like I had done squats for 18 hours. Felt great today-ran at 6:30 am

On my sister's recommendation I'm going to try to do "speed work" so today I ran:

2 minutes-8:06 pace (my usual)

2 minutes-7:08 pace

3/4 minutes-13:38 recovery pace

I did this over an hour with the last two intervals just being walk two, fast two-I'm tired from work so this is all I could manage :)

Took me 2:57:50 ran 2:12 of it. I felt great! Well kinda-my legs were seriously lactic acid burning around an hour and fifty minutes, but I didn't want to give in so I kept going-next time I might have to make myself eat gu or drink gatorade

good luck with your recovery, i hope it goes quickly for you. i had a marathon of my own killed off by a sciatic nerve injury in Oct. '08

my case was somewhat acute as i could hardly walk for a few weeks during the worst part of it. following that first period the pain and symptoms eased up over the next few months, (throughout that phase i continued to run regularly but not at the speed and volume that i had previously)

all told it took me nearly 10 months to get back to running at near 100%. (i was able to redeem myself with a marathon PR at the 1 year mark.)

My sciatic pains have never completely gone away, i still have minor symptoms on a regular basis with it feeling worst when i first get out of bed in the morning, but then subsiding as i get moving around.

i've modified my running routine by taking more time to stretch before hand and spending more time to warm up. (i.e. starting slow and easing in to faster paces) by doing this i typically do not feel the symptoms during my running.

i hope your case is less severe. hang in there!

sorry to hear that your sciatic is still a problem for you. (mine is a bit painful each morning, but it tends to ease up once the blood gets flowing)

not used to early morning runs, holy cow I thought I was going to die (it was 10 haha), but I managed to run 42 minutes, took about 90 minutes.
